IRCC Conducts Second Express Entry Draw of March 2025
On March 6, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 4,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in an Express Entry French-language proficiency draw. This draw set a new milestone, as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off score was 410—the lowest recorded since August 2024. To be eligible, candidates needed to have an active Express Entry profile created before 7:47 am Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) on February 11, 2025. This draw follows a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw held on March 3, 2025, making it the second Express Entry selection of the month.
Express Entry Trends: Focus on In-Canada Candidates
IRCC’s Express Entry strategy in 2025 has largely emphasized Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and PNP candidates. This aligns with the department’s ongoing commitment to prioritizing in-Canada applicants for ITAs.
So far this year, IRCC has conducted:
- Four PNP-specific draws
- Three CEC-specific draws
- Two category-based draws for French-language proficiency
The previous category-based selection for French-speaking candidates took place on February 19, 2025, when 6,500 ITAs were issued. This latest March 6 draw builds on that momentum, further demonstrating Canada’s strong commitment to Francophone immigration. IRCC’s Express Entry Priority Categories for 2025
In addition to its ongoing focus on in-Canada candidates, IRCC has outlined priority categories for Express Entry draws in 2025. The latest update introduced a new category for education occupations, expanding the targeted selection criteria.
The confirmed Express Entry priority categories for 2025 are:
- French-language proficiency
- Healthcare and social services occupations
- Trade occupations
- Education occupations
Canada’s Express Entry Selections Maintain Momentum
The latest Express Entry draw underscores IRCC’s commitment to supporting French-speaking candidates while maintaining a targeted approach to immigration selections. With a historically low CRS cut-off of 410, this draw may signal potential opportunities for eligible candidates under category-based selection. As Canada continues to refine its immigration strategy, staying informed about Express Entry trends is essential for aspiring applicants.
